Rio de Janeiro FC

Rio de Janeiro FC is a professional soccer team based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The club’s mascot, the Spix’s Macaw, is a blue parrot that is native to Brazil, and is among the rarest birds in the world. After being considered extinct in the wild since the year 2000 due to deforestation, limited numbers of these macaws have remained in captivity since. However, due to international conservation efforts, around 20 Spix’s Macaw’s were reintroduced to their natural habitat in June 2022. Rio FC aims to celebrate the beauty and hope of this exotic bird species and is sure to make a prestigious name for itself in the top flight of Brazilian football.

The club’s brand identity focuses on modernism, featuring a historical Brazilian typeface, negative space iconography, and a bold blue color palette.
